Two powerhouse string quartets join forces — Saguenay String Quartet (pictured) from Quebec and Lafayette String Quartet from BC — with an eclectic program of works by Mendelssohn, Niels W. Gade and Airat Ichmouratov.

Formerly known as the Alcan String Quartet, the Saguenay String Quartet has built an international reputation for excellence for over 25 years, known for its originality, sonority, and cohesion.

Described as passionate, riveting, and, flawless, the all women Lafayette String Quartet originally formed in Detroit in 1986. The group has been based in Victoria since 1991 as artists-in-residence at the University of Victoria’s School of Music.
