Renowned for her self-accompanied song recitals, Rachel Fenlon is finding a unique voice on the classical music stages of the world
Praised for her “unusually shaped recitals in keeping with her extraordinary talent” (Festival de Lanaudière), Rachel Fenlon draws from a singer-songwriter approach. Performing song recitals as both singer and pianist, her unique performance sees her accompanying herself.
Now based in Berlin, Rachel was raised on BC’s west coast and is a graduate of UBC. Her debut album, Winterreise, received widespread critical acclaim. It was named Album of the Week by CBC Canada and BBC Radio 3, and Album of the Month by Classic 106 FM.
Rachel will be performing a program dedicated to the folk song, featuring works by Benjamin Britten - The Last Rose of Summer and O Waly Waly - and Franz Schubert - By the Brook in Spring and The Birds.
“Beauty of tone, technical prowess, stamina, heartfelt expression, communicative power, not to mention an iron clad memory... The audience were fully aware they were witnessing something exceptional” – Ludwig Van Magazine
