CBC broadcaster and master storyteller, Tom Allen tells the story of a young Johann Sebastian Bach.
Renowned author, musician & presenter, CBC's Tom Allen and friends tell the musical story of ‘How the Great Man Got That Way’. At 18 years old, in his first job and not composing much at all yet, the young Johann Sebastian got into such trouble that all he could do was to walk away. J.S. Bach’s Long Walk in the Snow takes you on a 400 km journey to a glittering port city with street fights, big business, the father figure he didn’t know he needed and, quite possibly, love.
With guest musicians, soprano Suzie LeBlanc, pianist Leslie Dala, violist David Harding, and harpist Lori Gemmell.
Featuring the music of J.S. Bach:
Goldberg Variations, 1st variation
Partitas for Solo Violin
Chorale Prelude: Wachet Auf
Prelude from Lute Suite No.1
Violin Sonata in E Major, 2nd movement
Please note that due to the nature of this event, there will be no pre-concert talk.
